Farm and Mill Project North Wales

Gelli Farm and Mill is located in the uplands of Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. The historic stone and slate farmhouse was in a very basic state with little maintenance having been carried out in recent years. The farm group also contains barns that were in poor condition and a wonderful mill that has since been restored with a working wheel.

Dyfi Architecture have vast experience in upgrading country properties across Wales and were appointed to breathe new life into the barns by converting them into additional living space and refurbishing the farmhouse. The site is noted as having significant traditional buildings and the location in Snowdonia National Park has additional constraints on Planning which we are fully conversant with.

Using as much of the original building fabric as possible the barns were re-built and the exposed thick stone walls were re-pointed with lime with the introduction of some sections of local larch cladding. The house extension is lime rendered with larch cladding and steel guttering.

With minimal landscaping the finished buildings look great in the wooded valley setting.
