Ynys Gifftan Island Project

Ynys Gifftan is an 18 acre island near Portmeirion in Gwynedd, Wales that was given to Lord Harlech’s ancestors in the early 1700s by Queen Anne, hence the name ‘Anne’s Gift Island’.

There is a Victorian Farmhouse that sits on the east shore of the island looking towards the village of Talsarnau. It was lived in until the 1970’s but is now in need of major repairs.

A wonderful BBC archive describes life on the Island :- http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/wales/archive/bbc-north-west-wales-porthmadog-john-h-roberts.pdf

Dyfi Architecture are working with the present Owners, Land Agents and a Private Client to investigate proposals and options going forwards.

Access to Ynys Gifftan is by wading across the Dwyrd Estuary at low tide and we are very excited to take on board this extremely challenging project.

We love a challenge and add considerable value to all projects that we work on including the integration of new with existing to create spaces that showcase historical context while being superb solutions for the requirements of Clients.
